St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church of Keadue (aka “Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Mary”) is in the style of Gothic Revival church. It was designed by the prolific nineteenth-century church architect J.J. McCarthy. It stands in a very dominant position within this quaint Roscommon village. Great attention to detail was paid in the design and finish of the church. There are ornate buttresses, snecked stonework and very fine tooled stone dressings to be admired. This attention to detail was carried to the inside of the church where proportions are well satisfied with features such as the stained glass windows adding a technical and artistic dimension to the whole ensemble. The surrounding grounds of the church are also very pleasant. The church has very good acquistics and can hold a congregation of approximately 300.
